I’m new to this plant parenthood thing and I need some advice/help on what I believe is a Pinus Nigra. It belonged to a friend of my boyfriend but he left it behind when they all moved out so now I’ve been trying to care for it. This is her rn :(

Yeah she’ll need to go in the ground soon. You’ve got a little more time till she outgrows the pot but maybe a few months

it looks close to outgrowing the pot so if you want to keep it in the same area i’d recommend a larger pot, but it would probably do best in the soil. they like full sun and most but well drained soil so try to make sure it’s not waterlogged. perhaps also a little fertilizer would help

if you choose to fertilize it, get an NPK fertilizer with high nitrogen content or an organic/compost fertilizer

Thank you! When I got it it was in a much smaller pot than what it is now and the soil was very very dry so I assumed it was probably dehydrated and needed a bigger pot. I’m just hoping it’s not too far gone before I can actually plant it in the ground (hopefully) on my grandma’s farm.

sounds like a good plan! it probably is just very dehydrated. i work at a plant nursery and you’d be surprised how many people come in with plants that look sick but really all they need is consistent watering
