Genuine question, is the love you have for your plants similar to how one would love a pet? Or is it more of a hobby and you’re happy to see your skills with handling them grow?

The second one more for me, I actually recently told my bf I’m thinking of getting rid of most of my plants because “I don’t really have time for the hobby anymore rn” (direct quote). My pets NEED that time from me to survive, and like, so do the plants, but not the same way. I feel proud seeing them grow healthy (and I am sad at the thought of downsizing) but I don’t have the same emotional attachment like a pet.

Okay that’s beautiful. I understand that mindset. I hope you find a way to balance that.

Kinda both. I don’t have any pets with me in the dorms so it’s a nice little something for my mental health

For me, I feel love for my plants and spend a lot of time with them making sure everything is going well. I raised them all from seeds and this is the first time I’ve really had success, so it’s deeper for me.

And that’s honorable. Plants are great and so much more complex than people think

And I’m very glad you got to experience that
