During dormancy put him in a paper bag inside your refrigerator. Water ONLY with distilled water. He needs to sit in a constant tray of water ( these plants naturally live in bogs). When repotting you have to use a mix that was specially formulated for carnivorous plants. Do Not Use anything found in a big box store for soil.

The big thing is going into winter: dormancy is a necessity for their health, they should stay between 35-45 degrees to overwinter. Do some research on methods that will work for you to give it the winter dormancy it needs

They like their soil to stay moist but don't keep it waterlogged, just a little damp. Otherwise their roots will rot.

Only water him with rain or distilled water, what I do is plant him in spaghnum moss and keep his drip tray always filled with water. Idk how itโ€™s worked but heโ€™s been alive for almost a year now

Eat flies in front of it, in the wild they learn by watching their mothers hunt

Does he need to be in a tray of water during dormancy?

No. Do not water or feed during dormancy.
