What is this plant? I got it from a friend and now we don’t talk. It is some kind of succulent, but I want to make sure I can take care of it correctly? So what can I change to give it a better chance?

1. I don’t have it in direct sunlight (only there for the photo) 2. The spikes are not hard, they kind of give “whiskers?” Consistency? 3. I only water it when the soil looks and feels dry? ( I do want a watering schedule tho)

Looks like it might be a baby dragonfruit plant? could also be another type of cactus.

Some kind of cactus, don’t water it often, but when you do water it make sure you flood the pot so it that it drains out the bottom

I definitely was thinking Cactus of something but I don’t have that much of a knowledge there. I just know big cactus don’t get watered if they have the storing plant grown. Thats the adult phase @op. You have a baby something in the photo
