Every time I’ve had an issue with pothos, it’s been the roots. Dig it up, clear any bad roots, and propagate it in water until it grows more

This is going to be caused by either over or under watering. The roots are either dried up or rotted. Check the roots. If there’s any still healthy then cut away the dead and rot. If not then cut the pothos at the nodes and propagate.
