This might be a long shot, but does anyone know of any native Tennessee plants that would grow well as a houseplant? I’ve googled some stuff but can’t find anything definitive and I’d like to have a piece of home with me in college.

wild bergamot has pretty flowers and is pretty hardy, they’d likely be the easiest to grow indoors. other good options could be columbines, black-eyed susans, or maybe even christmas ferns depending on your lighting situation.

ofc! wild bergamot can be propagated pretty easily if you don’t want to buy it, you’ll just have to wait for some new shoots to come up so you can uproot them. they spread via rhizome so you don’t have to dig super deep to separate the parts you want. it’s also a great plant to have around other houseplants, it’s a natural deterrent for aphids and mites
