I love love love my orchids I’ve never tried harder to keep a plant alive before lol. I even gave them names. This is their area, it’s a cloudy day but I was wondering if they need more light or anything? Thanks!😊

I think that light looks good for a cloudy day!

About 4 months ago I moved my two 3-4yr old orchids to a hydroponic system, hoping it works out

An ice cube a week and the lightning is fine.

I’ve been taking care of orchids for four years now, first one I had died even after seven months of having it because I didn’t know how to properly take care of of it. In my experience - ice cubes aren’t good for the plant

Thank you! I haven’t really tried ice cubes yet so I’m not sure which is better here. I just got them some nice pots they can suck up distilled water from. Do you know why your orchid died because you didn’t properly take care of it? Or just the ice cubes?

And thank you! I haven’t heard everyone has different experiences with ice cubes so it’s truly 50/50 here lol

Orchids like the slow release of water from ice cubes, but not the cold. I didn’t know you couldn’t just water them like normal if they’re planted in orchid bark (you have to soak/drain them). Mine died of dehydration even though I watered it frequently. But I’ve since planted all mine in sphagnum moss, and that helps a lot so long as you don’t over do it. I’ve had a lot of success with this and have gotten mine to rebloom several times!

Thank you so much! I let them soak up water from the bottom of their pots and it seems to work but this truly does help me! They are in orchid bark so that seems to help and sometimes I turn on the humidifier behind them if I feel like they need it
