I’d cover it with a dome of some sort and provide additional moisture. That terracotta is gonna dry the soil out very quickly.

You should put it in water so it can grow roots first and then place it in soil!

Actually from the research I’ve done, while water propagation with succulents *can* work, propagation without water tends to work more often. Also, the leaf only just fell off of the main plant two days ago so it needs a few more days for the wound to callous over! Currently it’s not planted in the soil, just placed on top, I won’t be burying any part of it until the mother leaf starts shriveling, at which point I’ll gently bury just the roots

Also, no extra water is needed until the mother leaf is shriveled since it supplies the water until that point!
