i just let my plant drink until just beneath the top feels pretty wet. if ur soil is not absorbing water, u can leave it sitting for longer to try to rehydrate it because it might be hydrophobic!

Yes yay happens sometimes. Depends on the type of mixture and compaction, plant rooting, and pot size. the soil might be “hydrophobic” meaning it can’t soak up water. I’d try poking some holes in the soil and try again.
