22 versions over several weeks and 34 versions in one week. Both are bad but one is worse

Brat actually has more than 22, it has 22 variants on just vinyl alone. And one of them has โ€œcokeโ€ inside of it.

34 variants over several weeks after release is just annoying. But 34 variants in one week of release screams insecurity- like โ€œthe album wonโ€™t sell well so I need to create more ways to get people to buy itโ€. And it worked- she beat Adeleโ€™s record for first week sales, and earned another record for greatest drop in sales between weeks 1 and 2 (over 90%)

Ok hold on a sec. That record was from 2015, when the average person actually bought music. Comparing units from different eras makes no sense. Also, โ€œVersion 1โ€ of the album sold very well. She didnโ€™t โ€œneedโ€ the other 33 versions. She sold them because they are an exploitable cash cow. If you had an infinite money glitch, YOU would exploit it too. I promise

Insecurity =/ smart business. She doesnโ€™t care about Adele, they are actually good friends

Also people talking about the 34 versions drives discourse. Haters are a singerโ€™s best friend

First of all, Iโ€™ve been a fan since the original speak now. Second, streaming was new but still more popular than buying music in 2015. Adele kept her album off of streaming for several months which was a โ€œshadyโ€ way of boosting her sale. Taylorโ€™s variants sell bc a lot of her fans will buy anything she puts out, even if they donโ€™t like it. Also, why does a billionaire need an infinite money glitch?

Because Taylor wants more money, or the (more likely) people who get a cut of her royalties want more money. There are many decision makers in the room, most of which we do not know

Also no fan is buying 34 copies. They buy the specific version they like, sort of like shoe color variants

See, this is what Iโ€™ve thought for a while. But then why not release them all at once? Why make fomo by saying that variant x will only be available for 24 hours? Also, Iโ€™ve seen way too many people online with every version of the CD so I do think more people buy multiple copies

Buying 34 copies says more about the fans than the artist imo. I think the fomo aspect is marketing managers trying to incentivize buying, and its working
