Is it really empowering & subversive when women conform to the male gaze? Is it *really* a reclamation of female sexuality if a woman just affirms how men already see us? She can do whatever, but claiming Sabrina Carpenter is inherently feminist is WILD

There are people who have articulated this better than I can, but female hypersexuality as an attempt to subvert the male gaze never really works exactly the way we expect. Because at the end of the day, we’re still conforming to the male gaze

ITS SATIRE!!!!!! Her audience is literally women. She writes songs about how men have treated her like crap and her emotional struggles in relationships. The album being named man’s best friends is satirical! I’m sorry but if you can’t see that, you need some help.

Ig what I’m trying to say is that conforming to the male gaze, “ironic” or not, will not liberate us from

I totally get what you mean. It's like how with "girl dinner" and "girl math," it was supposedly intended to be satirical. But do your male friends who saw your tiktoks know that? Your brothers? Your boyfriend? Satire only works when everyone is "in on it." Men already don't believe women are smart enough to be satirical, so they take everything at face value I will say, releasing this kind of imagery of women in THIS political landscape is....a choice. Not a feminist one, but a choice

Exactly! I saw a reel of this guy saying something like “girl math is you cooking for me in a thong while I go to work” (which like 🤮) And it frustrating when women respond this with “im just a girl uwu” Are we going to girl math our way out of the workforce?? Like pls
