The “Taylor is maga!” Discourse is another example of how the left is eating itself and is connected to why we lost in 2024. Purity politics will literally be our downfall

Hey, I’m not interested in arguing about this, but as someone who was a Latina fan of hers, it’s super disappointing how complicit she is with being friends with Trump supporters. I was explaining to swiftie how scary it is rn (my younger cousins are scared ICE will kidnap us cause we’re brown) and it’s disappointing to see TS be close friends with people endorsing Trump and his policies. The swiftie showed absolutely no empathy and cared more about TS’s feelings than POC being put into camps

I’m 100% a democrat but we as a whole are such a bad group. in the sense that we’re bad at making people want to join us and stay with us. all I see are people on the left refusing to let people change from past mistakes, hating on people for not being “woke enough” like that’s how you turn people MAGA and we dig ourselves even farther into hell

Idk if this is the discourse you’re talking about, but I feel like a lot of the album discourse claiming it’s racist comes from people with a white savior complex drawing meaning that doesn’t exist and attaching it to the lyrics without actually listening to black women. I’ve seen too many black women having to speak out like “heyyyyy so you making this about race when it obviously isn’t is more racist than the meaning you’re trying to assign to these lyrics”

yeah honestly bro i think it’s a bunch of unhinged online people addicting to being the contrarian with the “woke” take on everything. all i need from that lady is her election endorsements & that does enough🙏

I never thought I’d see people trying to be so woke that they end up ignoring the voices of people they’re supposedly speaking for 😭

oh no i saw it coming from a mile away. the extreme left are white ppl frustrated w the fact that american left politics doesn’t revolve around them. that’s why they pick up random issues to base their entire identity on every year & hold it over any other issue

Like, TS is a billionaire and her album is gonna make her money anyway. I’m scared that if I tan anymore I’ll be brown enough that ICE will racially profile me and take me in a raid. Her being criticized for this isn’t going to hurt her remotely, but her hearing she’s hurting might influence her to change. The public holding her accountable for things isnt the left in-fighting, it’s the calling out we need to fight back against complicity to authoritarianism

But also hanging out with your fiancé’s coworkers is kind of a given. Contractually obligated to get along and and Taylor and Travis are kind of a package deal. Travis and Patrick are marketed as best friends, but they aren’t. Taylor is liberal as hell, and I’m also 99% sure the mahomes or whatever their name is. don’t support trump, at least not anymore. According to Kylie Kelce, their family is “aggressively liberal” and who you have to associate with doesn’t change that. Part of being an-

-adult is being able to do that bc if you didn’t, you’d be cut off from a good chunk of the world and maga or not, that isn’t healthy. Just like regular jobs, you have to associate with people you don’t agree with. Being photographed together at official events ≠ close friends. Her close friends are people like Selena, Gigi, Hayley, etc. and I don’t think those people would be friends with her if she was closely associated with maga. Especially Selena and Gigi, aka a known Latina and Palestinian

Also, that lyric means she wants a block worth of kids. And that she wants her kids to look like her husband. Is that a hard concept to grasp?

“Have a couple kids got the whole block looking like you”. It’s self explanatory.

Not defending it as a lyric, defending its meaning bc people will call everything racist to the point where they stop lettering to black people on the topic bc of a savior complex. So many black peoples have talked about out the album and that song like “why are you calling it racist? It isn’t? It’s racist if you to immediately assume racism? Stop speaking for us”
