It’s manipulation but if he wants to keep making threats like that it’s valid enough reason to call a wellness check on him since he’s so adamant I’m sure he’d sing a different tune after that

i had the same thing happen w my ex gf, contact their parents or whoever would be best watching out for them and fucking get out of there. it’s not your responsibility

that's emotional manipulation, which it sounds like you already know, but you can't let it become your job to support someone who makes you unhappy. that's a slippery slope to permanent misery for you.
