You should, and you should say that’s not acceptable and if he does anything like it again he is out on the street

I mean he clearly went through it because he thought something was going on. Bring it up and if he wants to go through it have him do it while you are there (if you are comfortable) but just ask why he did it

It’s not her fault someone complimented her. You can respectfully receive a compliment and shut down any short of romantic reach out.
