I just turned 18 yesterday and my mom told me can’t do on a date with a guy because I met him online. I get that I still live under her roof, but still, my thing is that I’m 18, that’s my choice now. Am I right? Someone help😭

Yea, no. 18 makes you legally an adult but that doesn’t mean you have the maturity of one. Your mom is just looking out for you and the sooner you accept that the easier life will be. You’ll have your turn to do the same to your kids in the future.

You wrong. You just don’t want to accept the truth

I turned 18 under my parents roof as well. I was also still in high school for three months after my 18th birthday. I still had a curfew, was able to be grounded, told me where I could and could not go and with who. Like #3 said, your parents are looking out for you. Just because you are legally an adult does not mean you have the experiences of one. Trust your mom on this one and you’ll thank her later. Now I am 21, living on my own, and have a better sense of judgement from obeying the rules.

I thank my dad everyday for the sense of character he instilled in me. I don’t invite strangers into my home now, whereas without protecting I may have.
