i think if he's going to be upset about it he should communicate that he'd like some quality time with you and enjoys minecraft with you. im not saying either of you are doing something more or less important, but he should communicate effectively and accept that you're doing something else. maybe you guys could come to a compromise

That makes the whole thing different now. You guys are long distance, it’s a way for you guys to connect, I would guess that’s what it is for him, enjoying something together.
