Do you really think that every single person in a group is the exact same type of person? I mean this is just illogical

No. Even Star Wars clones aren’t the same people.

So how does it make sense to say stereotypes are earned if a stereotype is by definition “a fixed or oversimplified idea about a group of people”

An individual can’t earn a stereotype. A group of people can. I think you’re mixing individual and group up.

but a stereotype is always applied to individuals, that is how they function. our brains create stereotypes which can be helpful for categorizing things but it also results in a reduction of accuracy & creates a cognitive bias/blindspot

PS politicians and people can easily exploit your unconscious biases and assumptions if u don’t reflect on them

Correct👍 So we have successfully proven my point that stereotypes are earned, not given.

Do you think people in maga are smart or idiots who defended pedophiles

I try not to assume that about each new person I talk to. I have interacted with many trump voters who seem to be unable to see things differently but that’s not true of all of them & i don’t think it’s helpful to assume that. I try to assume each new person is capable of good faith convo

i have close friends who ended up voting for him who aren’t racist or bad people. i think they just fell for propaganda and are in echo chambers

For example, if you met 2 people who wore all yellow all the time & both of them were assholes, and you had never met anyone else who wore yellow, you might assume everyone who wears yellow is an asshole. “people who wear yellow” didn’t “earn” that stereotype.

If it was only two people correct! 👍 If it’s a general population statistic, incorrect!👎 It takes a lot more than 2 people to earn your stereotype. 2 is not enough for realistic pattern recognition.

are you a white man? what about the statistic that men commit most violent crimes, or white men commit most familicide? did every white man earn that stereotype?

How did they respond to the Epstein files? Did they admit a mistake or double down?

Yeah it’s okay if you want to think that way. It’s healthy even. It’s like base stats on different characters in World of Warcraft. You can still see if they put their skill points into something else, but you can assume some things based of the core stats of the character. It’s always okay to be more cautious around certain people.

Ok can like any 1 democrat point to any reliable source that incriminates Trump in the Epstein Files? It’s all just echo chamber buzz.

I think it’s because his administration has refused to release the files there’s less of a ability to show direct connection. He does have a history of sexual misconduct and was a known friend of Epstein
