Not an RA yet but I have an interview on Wednesday for the position. Any advice on how to kill it and seem like the good choice?

Be confident not cocky, think about yourself already in the role when answering the questions

Also think about restorative practice techniques and important resources you can recommend your residents

They sent me a list of questions they’re going to ask and they seem like really simple questions. Like a lot of them are about diversity and all I can think of is id probably be the most “diverse” person in the dorm 🤣 cus of my race and age

But think about how you will support other people from diverse backgrounds

Inclusion. No one left out of events in the dorm and any kind of bullying or exclusion will not be tolerated due to someone identity.

And how are you going to do that

Finding out the demographic of my floor with a poll or sheet maybe and see what cultures they put. Research the dates and decorate a little bit accordingly and perhaps maybe put a meal together from that culture. Taking food allergies into account

Put together a meeting with both parties and myself to work things out. If there is no compromise or agreement then bring it higher to the supervisor. See if there is any way rooms can be changed.

First thing is I’d thank them for telling me and that I’m honored to be one of the people they do come out to. I’d tell them that I’m there for them no matter what and if they ever have any problems come straight to me. Ask them if they’ve told their families and if they would like me to be their support if they want to come out to them over the phone.
