If the period to accept the position has passed for regular RA’s, fairly low. But anything can happen! I got alternate and was hired.

I was an alternate RA and alternate HRA! I would stay positive :)

at my uni we pull nearly everyone from the alt pool, so don’t be discouraged. especially when the semesters start we have a lot drop.

It varies by institution and how many people are in the alternate pool. But I’d say there is still a fair chance. Remember people reject their placements, people graduate, student teachers etc. I was placed in the alternate pool then 3 weeks later got an offer.

I was put on the waitlist (or alternate list) and I started this past spring. There’s always a better chance of starting as a spring RA (depending on ur school) since there’s always a fair amount of ppl graduating or going to study abroad after the fall semester
