Yeah this isn’t 100% avoidable. Unless their freshman most residents are aware of how to contact RAs on duty or where to find their RA. Yes it can happen and the case is usually because the resident isn’t able to locate their RA. Also, with this situation knowing when saying “no” is appropriate will be your best friend.
Tbh I wouldn’t worry about that too much. I was in a similar situation this past year where we had two RAs for the same hall. The residents should know who is their RA, and my experience was that the other RA’s residents didn’t really come to me unless they passed me in the hall and had a quick question. If you and and the RA for that hall both have a way for your residents to get in touch, then most of them will opt for that
I would have their ra at the beginning of year explicitly explain that you are not their ra and to try to avoid reaching out to you and also I put a sign on my door last year with our night desk number (dispatch to raoc) and a note under that said to call that especially for minor incidents like lock outs. It won’t help if there is a major issue tho atleast from my experience And also I would personally ask to be in the gc but not speak in it so you kinda know what’s happening around so
