My roommate LOVES turning the temperature up to 74 every time he leaves the apartment. I have several real fur coats, which are very sensitive to temperature. We compromised at 72 degrees, which is still risking it, but he keeps turning it up higher 😣

He’s only doing it when he leaves? That’s 100% him doing it specifically to fuck you over/make you mad bc 74 would be a bit uncomfy to actually be in (at least imo)

It actually costs more to keep changing the temp than just keeping it at a set temperature

I’m sorry

it literally costs more to constantly change the temp every day than to keep it at a slightly lower temp

Yeah he says he wants to “save on electricity when nobody’s home” but like diva I’m here like 99% of the time I hate going places 😭

It’s getting colder rn tho…..so you’d turn it *down* to save money. Though realistically that doesn’t actually save money bc then your system has to work harder to get it back to the ambient temp you prefer when you get home.

I mean, we live in the American south so it’s still hitting 75 out here on a cold day, but yeah it’s like really annoying waking up sweating and just KNOWING my furs are all withering away 😣

I live in the south east too (hell it’s still 80 out here when the sun’s out). But that makes 74 even more uncomfy to be in 😭

EXACTLY! Please don't ask why I live in such a hot place and still collect fur coats because it's a long, complicated answer that is generally understood to be dissatisfying

I mean, as long as it’s ethically sourced (like second hand) why should I care? Real fur will last multiple life times when well taken care of. Fake fur is just plastic that doesn’t even keep you warm, and ends up sitting in landfills for half of eternity. As long as you’re not like, seeking it from the illegal mink trade or something. And for me it’s not an issue bc my ideal house temp is 69 all year round

Oh yeah I get it all secondhand, I had a seller in Germany who I got a few from, but now dhs doesn’t ship here anymore so that’s a road closed. Some mink, some fox, a rabbit or two. It’s all older than me. One has the initials of someone presumably long dead stitched in the inside. My parents keep their place at 68 and omg I miss that place

I mean yeah sounds great. I love old coats. I have some vintage London fog and wool coats from thrift stores. If I saw fur I wouldn’t pass it up
