What would yall do in this situation? My ex roommate damaged tf out of our apartment bc of her cat. We lost our whole security deposit and on top of that we got charged for a brand new couch ($900) that I barely/never used. She’s refusing to pay.

I made a group chat with all of our parents showing pics of the damages and asking that she pay for what her cat damaged, as we wouldn’t have been charged for anything if her cat didn’t mess it up and she didn’t clean it. Her mom flat out said no and won’t respond anymore.

don’t they usually split it anyway and bill everyone separately and if they don’t pay it then that’s up to the leasing manager

This is the couch btw. They said it had to be replaced due to pet stains and odor… when we asked her to not bring her cat back cause she wasn’t cleaning up after it she met us with empty promises and excuses.

Small claims court, if you have proof her car ruined the couch you can sue her

Small claims babe. If you have the proof you can MAKE her pay.

Is it rlly worth it to go to small claims over like $240? Cause that would be the cost split between us. Technically me and my gf would pay like $500 jointly cause we lived with this girl and another girl.

Depends on what the filing fee is but I would say yes, especially if you tack on the couch

So we each paid $200 towards our $800 security deposit. We lost that and additionally we are being charged about $900 for a new couch which would be split four ways (about $225). I’m saying I shouldn’t have to pay anything towards that extra $900 charge and she should pay it all

I would definitely go to the leasing manager though if you have proof they did it so bc there has to be something they can do about it

She promised she’d shampoo the couch and carpet and when she didn’t we were charged for $105 carpet cleaning and $900 for a new couch.

I tried going to the leasing company and they said there’s nothing they can do and that we have to work it out ourselves cause that’s what the lease says :(

I would keep contacting even if they don’t answer and then try and show proof that they aren’t answering if they continue not to answer
