Tip: the less you share with your roommate, the easier you all will get along. Obviously there are exceptions to these rules, but the vast majority of your things in a common area don’t need to be shared

incoming freshmen i’m begging you to get your own plates and bowls and don’t tell your roommate they can use them. they will not clean them and it’s not worth it

omg i literally had to get separate bathroom trash cans bc my roommate wouldn’t clean it and just let that shit stank up the bathroom and expected me to clean it all the time.

i completely agree! my roommates and i share a kitchen and we’re literally each others best friends but we still plan on keeping our own plates and dishes and even cookware. i literally love them so much but i can still see stuff potentially coming up with sharing too many things. also id just feel so awkward using someone else’s plate and bowls and stuff 😬

ok be like it’s probably best if we keep stuff separated like my things and your things separated so it don’t cause issues. like i’ve seen so many roommate situations gone wrong with sharing stuff before( example: not cleaning dishes they shared and taking out their trash)

If y’all share a room idk, shit outta luck. But if you don’t simply keep your things in your room. I guess this same logic can be applied to dorms. Organize your things in a way that it would be weird or invasive for her to even try and share with you. Put things in containers under your bed. Put them in your cupboard

did you ever explicitly agree to sharing after she took it that way? if no, store them somewhere out of sight. if she asks say oh i only have dishes for myself or something like that

And that’s why you keep your shit to yourself (as best as possible) me and my roommates really only share paper towels, a trash can, and that’s about it. Everything else we got on our own

i would recommend bringing your own! don’t have to be responsible for anyone else’s stuff/shared stuff

My roomates are making a list of stuff to get and I know sharing stuff is gonna cause so many issues but I’m being fought on it rn
