I need advice. My roommates mom has been living with us for about a month because she’s homeless. I get it, everybody has struggles but shes becoming so ungrateful for the things that i do for her like giving her rides, food, and simply just a place

Should I contact the property manager or no? I was cool with her but she’s become a lot and I can’t handle it anymore

I’d say talk to your roommate first, if nothing comes of that then yes call

It’s your space too, I get that she’s having it rough but if you’re the one providing and she isn’t and being disrespectful you need to claim back your space

Well whatever you do make your decision wisely because apparently kicking her out could get her arrested

Chances are this violates the lease anyways. Most leases I’ve had have some sort of clause written in about guests staying consecutively for like two week without landlord permission

Be careful she doesn’t gain squatter’s rights

have you had conversations with your roommate and her mom about this? because if you haven’t, you need to do that first. ask her to contribute to the household in some way or say that you will no longer be able to give her rides. but putting someone back on the streets over resentment.. that feels extreme. plus your roommate will hate you for it. try to solve this first and work out a plan before fucking her over

You can always pull the “not under my roof” but yeah, definitely talk to the roommate first

Yes. Most lease agreements don’t even allow family unless it’s been told to the landlord. Mine is only 7 days until they either need to leave or start an agreement with the landlord

Has she not been helping out at all? Like sure, she might not be in a financial situation right now to pay rent but she’s not contributing to the household at all? No cleaning, no cooking, nothing? Call the property manager she needs to find other accommodations.

Executive orders are not laws until they pass through our checks and balances. Hopefully this won’t go into effect at all but im sure there’s other family members the mom could stay with

Even if she does all they have to do is wait until she has to leave for something and lock her out/change the locks. Hard to be a squatter when you can’t get in

I tried talking to her about it but she refused 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well if her mom isn’t gonna contribute, and your roommate won’t make her contribute, time to call the property manager and have her removed. Yes it’s sad she’s in this situation but she needs to go
