Tbh it’s valid. It’s their space too. It’s not weird, it’s just having basic respect for the people that live with you. Like my roommate will have her bf over almost every single day. For several hours. They both make it very uncomfortable to relax in the room because it’s just generally awkward. Yesterday I had to ask him to leave subtly because it was damn near 2 AM and he has been there since early to late afternoon. So it’s not like I asked him to leave early I just said I’m going to bed.
