1- you don’t have to be best friends to interact with people 2- wouldn’t you be more inclined to hang out with them due to the low stakes of not having to maintain the relationship long term?

oh yeah being nice and civil with them is normal. but people definitely expect roommates to be bffs when that’s not always the case
