It sounds like W doesn’t like that things aren’t going the way they want them to go and is fighting for complete control of the house rules. Tell W the cat stays so their choices are stop complaining or back out of the lease, if they want a dog they need to take that up with the leasing office (assuming y’all have no qualms about a dog), and rules can be discussed when they get there and not before including any future complaints. All further complaints can be left on read.
R’s cat wasn’t specified to be an ESA like the dog W wants, which leads me to believe the cat is a normal pet. Some people have this notion that cats don’t require as much room as a dog because they’re “lower maintenance”. There’s also the possibility that the lease only allows one pet so W is attempting to bypass that with the FHA by getting an ESA. Regardless of what the context is, it’s still very clear that W is only wanting a dog for the purposes of retaliation and that’s not a good reason
Idk when she moves in for sure, but the only one with an issue about the dog is R. I love all animals, as long as I don’t have to take care of them FOR the owner. Yes I’ll help, but they’re not mine. By staying out, I meant I’m not middle manning it. I will not communicate for R like I have before, she needs to compromise with W.
I wasn’t expecting you to middle man anything, just giving you some things to say if W was contacting you directly about these complaints. I’m sorry that it sounds like all your roommates are people that should have lived alone but the best advice I can give you for now is just to stick with what the lease says and what they have agreed to within reason. Hopefully they’ll all get over themselves and realize all this complaining gets them nowhere
