Depending what dorm you’re in you might be able to prop it open with a coin by using it like a screw driver. As long as you knock and yell first they can’t get upset, at least that’s what my RA said.

That’s most likely the lock making it so they can’t come into your room. They definitely are able to lock your door from inside the bathroom.
