the “being excited to live in a dorm” to “hate sharing a room with others and wanting to live alone” arc is a very real thing to those of u that are going to start dorming 😭 it doesn’t happen to everyone off but it’s common

the way my college works almost everyone does a dorm freshman year and then goes to apartments. so it’s really nice cause you get to meet new people freshman year and then you don’t have to see anyone you don’t want to after that

Definitely me like I wanted to make friends in a dorm but HATED living with someone else in the room. Glad I’ve got my own apartment all to myself now

I got so lucky- I did a study abroad before college but we stayed in a college dorm. Got lucky and was alone but could not stand how my friends had to deal with their roommates! When I went to college I got a single in a suite and it was the best thing for my mental health ever

I graduate college this year and this hit very fast as someone who’s a control freak about my space - and as someone who’s had to file reports about rule breaking and hazards from my roommates EVERY YEAR!! YAYYYY

yep i trieddd to deal with my ex roommate freshman year, and survived longer than i deserved to. now i have an accommodation that includes not having roommate, but still get suitemates. i didn’t even ask for that 🤷🏾‍♀️ just comes with any accommodation (which was needing a kitchen)

i think it’s the appeal of having your own space independent and managed by yourself and not your parents

yeah I think I could manage living in a single room by myself and sharing a common area with other people, it’s a good balance

Being able to close my door and know that nobody else could come in was very important for me while also having people around me that I could hang out with
