we're in a community called roommate rants. one of the annoying things about having a roommate is having someone in your room that you can't kick out when you’re sick of them. it doesnt mean the roommate is wrong for just existing in their room, but i'm not sure why everyone gets so upset when ppl complain about it in this community that is literally designed for complaining about ur roommate...
idk my roommate dominates the space even when i tell her i need an hour (MAX once a week) because i struggle with my mental health and actually can’t be ok without a bit of privacy. i guess she’s entitled to it but i would give her that kindness and she doesn’t care about me or my well being
This reminds me of my roommate that complained about that but I literally had 7:50am class and wouldn’t be back for a except around 3-5pm for an hour and then go to class for 6:30-8:45pm and after have dinner from 9-10pm THEN I got back to the dorm 💀 And she had the audacity after to tell me to not come back until 2am TWO FRICKIN AM because she invited friends over and she is “always the one that hosts the parties” omgg 💀 💀
And how do yk that everyone complaining abt their roommate being in the room doesn’t have an issue as well? There wouldn’t be anything to complain about if everyone’s roommates had a life, job, and each had their own time to themselves, especially when most dorms are just one big room with 2 people… nobody wants to share a room with anyone even when we lived at home with siblings…
there doesn't have to be a problem with something for it to be annoying. i leave the room when someone turns on a blender because i don't like the sound, it doesnt mean its morally wrong of someone to use a blender. if i complain privately about the sound of a blender that doesnt mean i think they shouldn't be allowed to make a smoothie
bruh i don't know what school yall are going to where you have such control over your room placement that you can just opt into a single without a selection process. i literally put every single, from any building, above ANY room that had another person in it on my preference form, and still got stuck with a roommate. i'm not mad my roommate exists i just didn't want to have one to begin with 😭 you don't get to choose what ppl complain abt & its weird to care so much like why does it affect u
No the school just sent it out and said “hey this is your roommate you can’t switch rooms or anything have a good year.” It’s not their fault for living in the dorm but it is their fault for not getting out… like I wouldn’t have to resort to being rude or mean if they would leave for like an hour so I can have time to do stuff that I can’t do while they’re sleeping all day.
It wouldn’t be a problem if both parties agreed or gave eachother time but when one is constantly in the room, not going to class, up all night, and yelling it gets a point. I cannot be the only one who leaves the room. And when I am in the room and try to do stuff when they’re asleep it’s a BIG issue and I get yelled at but it’s not a problem for them to stay up till 3am yelling.
now those are legit problems. some people complain because their roommate is literally just existing. not because they’re doing anything but because they’re not. that’s what op is saying. example: how’re you mad because you walk in and see your roommate sitting and reading a book? they don’t want their roommate existing in a space all the time but whole time the roommate also pays for the room and is able to enjoy it.
