Cleaning up after my roommate and then being told “you could have asked me to clean it.” Well actually I’m not your mother, I’m not going to ask you to clean your shit up that you obviously know is a mess. If you don’t want me cleaning it, do it first

So glad I’m not alone I literally clean up after mine all the time. Got excited once bc they were sweeping when I got home. Turns out they just broke something and didn’t even sweep up all the pieces.

If this is something that ur fine with more power to you but I hope you realize that while you aren’t there mother, you’re essentially the maid, I’d argue that I’d rather be the nagging mom

fr like she’ll do it if i ask but why should i have to ask you to help maintain our common living quarters?

It’s so frustrating. And also now that I’m thinking abt it, why are you trying to make me feel like I’m at fault for cleaning??? A damn “thank you” would have been fine

The waking up or coming home to it dirty again irritates the fuck out of me 😭. Line do they never question why they never need to vacuum or wipe the counters down?? It’s not a fairy, it’s ME

True, and I realize im essentially their maid, but I also just find it easier to do the cleaning myself than wait for them to do it. It’s them telling me I could have asked (while they were HOME and SAW me cleaning and still decided not the help) that’s really annoying me lol

THISSS!! This is what happened with my old roommate. She would just sit there while watching me clean all of her shit. There would be times that she’d literally watch me do all of the dishes (that were mostly hers) and then add to it while I’m doing it. It aggravated me so much. And like you said, I don’t want to have to be a nagging mother that tells you to clean up after yourself

me when my roommates would stack trash up til it overflowed onto the floor and just expected it to go away without having to think about it because i would finally find a break in my extremely busy schedule to take it out in the middle of the day on a tuesday when they’re home with no job or classes

WHY DO THEY DO THIS. Lately mine has been tying the trash bag closed when it’s full, and then just leaving it in the bin…not taking it out and not even putting a new bag in. Is it so hard to just walk it down to the shoot? How can you stand trash everywhere anyways, it’s just gross

none of my roommates ever took the trash out the whole year. the one time i thought one of them did, they actually bagged it up and put it in the utility closet and i didn’t realize until a week later when i went to go take the trash out again and realized there was a bag of trash in our closet so i had to take an extra one down

That’s genuinely so disgusting. It’s TRASH! That’s how you get bugs and rodents. I just don’t understand how it’s so hard to do basic chores

i tried to tell them to or ask them but they would go “oh i don’t know where it is” (you’ve lived here 6 months and don’t know where the trash room is????) or “i’ll take it out later” and eventually i just kinda gave up cuz it was a short lease so i don’t ever have to live with them again and they were otherwise nice enough ig. made sure to only take my trash out when i moved so they’d have to explain to their family why they didn’t know where the trash room was

Ugh they def knew where it was, they were just being lazy and playing dumb. I also hate the “I’ll do xyz later,” bc it always translates to “never” lmao

and like i get it im not the cleanest person in the world, sometimes i put off cleaning something for longer than i should and i can be quite messy and disorganized but im not outright gross or like refusing to take care of common spaces. my standards are not that high because i have serious unmediated adhd and i get it can be hard to be clean and organized so if you’re disappointing me something is probably pretty wrong here

i honestly do believe they didn’t know because it was kind of hard for me to find at first but i’m an adult who doesn’t want trash on the floor so i asked around and figured it out and took the trash out without having to be handheld through it. took one of em once but i can only baby you so much, i have better things to do with my time like the fact im either at school or working for about 8 to 10 hours almost every day

Right like at the very least they could have figured it out. I think the reason I’m so adverse to the idea of “asking my roommates to clean up” is bc my standards of cleanliness and organization are probably higher than the normal person, but I try my very hardest to not hold my roommate to that standard. So if I have to start asking them to clean, it’s going to come across as me being an insufferable nag clean-freak, when all I’m asking is a very basic amount of cleanliness in the shared spaces
