I’ve had this happen to me before and honestly I took pictures of before and after they used it and then confronted them in person. They tried to deny at first but with the evidence they admitted to it. I would start with confronting and if that doesn’t work then get RA involved. You shouldn’t feel like you have to lock your own stuff
I had a bottle of shower cleaner disappear from the shared bathroom so I kept the new one in my room and moved on until I had proof it was stolen by my suitemate and kept in her room. That’s when I got the RA involved and only just to get it back. She had been petty to me all semester because I asked her to turn down her music one time and stealing the bottle was her stupid way of getting revenge because I don’t think she thought through the fact that I was the only one cleaning the shower.
Great question! As a guy who shares a suite with 3 other rms, 1 in the same room and we share a communal bathroom, I wouldn’t complain if they just moved my toothpaste to the side! As far as shower gel, they way my rms reek if they’re using it first I’d be happy they are showering and secondly I’d say something if I was really bothered but most guys don’t complain about this kind of thing that I know- I’ve only heard girls doing so that’s why I asked
Guy. I made this post in relation to last year when my roommate accused me of using his body wash (I wasn’t) and said he would report me to the RA for it after I didn’t confess to something I didn’t do. We got into a heated argument over it and I pointed out how ridiculous of a thing it was to start a fight over, and how there’s no way to actually prove it and that it was his word against mine. It calmed down and I thought we were cool after that, (too long, continued in the next reply)
Until one day, he confronted me and asked me why his toothpaste was on top of the sink and he was genuinely pressed. I didn’t do that either, but I was caught off guard as to why he’d be upset about a thing like that. I told him that I can’t prove a negative and that I already keep my own toothpaste on the sink so I’d have no reason to try and use his. He responded by saying that I lost the last bit of trust I had and locked all his stuff in his closet and turned back to play on his dumb laptop
