Finished my first year of college living with this girl I get on Instagram. Day one, she pukes all night. Day 2, same thing. And she won't go to the bathroom because our neighbor has a phobia of vomiting so if they happened to hear her puke she'd+

be embarrassed. This then led to her puking in a bowl, going back to bed, and cleaning it when she wind up. She puked every. single. night. Our room smelled like vomit

As someone who has this problem….. what the actual fuck. 1. I’ve got it bc I’m super anxious and when I wake up, unfortunately I throw up and 2. I use the FUCKING TOILET like a normal person and I try my best to be quiet and not wake the others.

A friend of mine had a roommate who did a similar thing, but she puked in garbage bags and then one day she up and left and just left all of the puke bags in the closet

I then, while searching for my keys to go home for a weekend towards the end of the year (things had gotten better, she's now going to the bathroom to puke) find the bowl. It's full. Of dried. Vomit. With food chunks. And a dirty rag submerged in it. #ISurvived

My guess is weed because she was heavily addicted and had to take a few hits before class and directly sheet vomiting to "feel normal" 😒

I’m not familiar with the side effects of weed that might have been it. I probably would’ve reported this, especially since she refused to give you any explanation. Keep in mind I don’t think anyone’s entitled to other people’s medical history, but if you’re living with someone who has noticed excessive vomiting like that, you should at least say “it’s a medical condition don’t worry about it”.

If you smoke weed too much like all day everyday I’ve heard it can lead to a medical thing where you can’t stop puking so that does kinda align, sorry you had to deal with that because that’s absolutely disgusting but I hope she gets better

I understand ur point and I get that I maybe should've, but I was freshly 19 with no life experience and my only experience that I've been told by others at this point is "don't snitch", plus I was terrified of nothing happening and having an even shittier roommate situation bc she'd then hate me 💔 I was lowkey a coward

Oh no you’re fine I get that. A lot of people out there were given the black and white version of snitching which is “don’t tell on anyone” and aren’t taught that there’s actually a lot of gray area. A general rule of thumb is if you or others are being affected negatively by the action reporting it is necessary. In this case, you were affected negatively by her constant vomiting and her leaving a bowl of puke out every night. I’m just sorry you had to learn the hard way.

I know the general consensus among RAs is to ignore weed unless it becomes a problem but I would think they would do something about a person smoking so much they puke every night and leave a biohazard in the dorm.

Yeah the biohazard for sure I agree they’d have to do something, but with the actual vomiting I think they’d have a hard time finding any authority to exercise
