Id say 10 is a bit more realistic- sometimes people get off work at 9 and want to see friends quick The complete silence is also a bigger ask, id reduce it to quiet noise

i feel this because i have the same exact problem. however it’s apparently okay for her to be loud as hell at 2:30am when i have a 9:30 the next morning. godspeed soldier and i hope you guys will be able to talk to her about her rules soon

Given everything I’ve read, including that’s there’s two other roommates that don’t agree with this, your roommate is being completely unreasonable so she can either suck it up and get ear plugs or get a place by herself

I think it’s fine as long as you limit to like 2 days a week, having people over all the time can be annoying (speaking as someone who often had friends over and ended up annoying their roommage$

Id ask her what she thinks is reasonable, i personally didnt mind if my roommates had friends over on school nights as long as the volume couldnt be heard with my door shut and a fan on- everyone is different but i can help you write a note to aid the situation if you want

We literally had a two hour long conversation about expectations and if there was any way we could comprise and get to a point we both agreed on and she only wanted her terms, which was everyone out and complete silence

If you have an RA, id get them involved, otherwise just tell her that is what everyone agreed on and if she doesnt follow it, she can leave

To be blunt about it: your situation is simple. There are four people in the apartment and three of them want to have friends allowed over and quiet time to be later than 9pm. Because you have the numbers, you can easily give the ultimatum of get headphones or get out (whether that means study somewhere else or move out is up to her) and there’s very little she can do about it because you live in an apartment where the landlord doesn’t care as long as you follow the lease.

TL;DR: put your foot down and stop letting her try to make unilateral decisions for the apartment, she has no power there.

no you’re completely okay i understand the frustration! my roommate is the same way (as mentioned before obviously LMAO) and has a problem with the slightest raised voice/tv sound/anything outside of absolutely unreasonable quiet times. can’t even watch walking dead at a reasonable time (8:00) because if i do she’ll text me to turn it down even if i can’t anymore

as an RA i second this, it’s no good for you to live in tension with your roommate unless we absolutely cannot avoid it

This is a big girl apartment she should be able to sit down and have a conversation with us but she continued to ignore us
