if they are inside a room and not a kennel i think its fine. they are safe & people have lives/work. yeah it sucks but the owner just got to make it up to the dogs later yk

in a room is not abusive, in a kennel is concerning and should be investigated further

if it’s in a room, then hopefully there are pee pads or something so that the dog can use the bathroom

It depends on the scenario, most people work 8 hour shifts and it could have been a situation where something came up and they needed to stay longer than normal. Some dogs need to be kenneled for their safety or just to crate train (I’m not sure how old this dog is but my oldest was crate trained while I was in high school and now roams freely when I’m gone. My current puppy is being crate trained as well and will be for at least a year)

Idk my dog is home anywhere between 8-12h on her own and she just spends most of the time sleeping sometimes longer if I work gets late. Camera says she spends 80-90% of that time sleeping

4 hours is the max during the day I’d leave my dog, overnight they are more fine as they get older but that’s still like 10-7

she was gone from 5am till 7 pm. they have some food and water. but they barley got outside even though our yard is fenced and when they do get outside time they’re on a leash in the fenced yard

Just room is fairly fine. I would guess they are doing it out of respect for the roommates. If it wouldn’t be an issue assuming the dog is well behaved you could offer they leave the dog out.

they’re not puppies and this is like an everyday thing and idk if they’re kenneled or just in the room but the room is pretty small i just needed input before i did anything

Being kenneled is not abuse but there are definitely other factors that could be involved that we’re not getting details of. I personally work at a dog daycare so my dog’s (primarily the puppy since she actually plays) will go every 2 or 3 days when I’m working and the other days I’m either home and we go outside every 3 to 4 hours or if I work then we go outside a couple of times before I have to leave and they get left with enrichment to occupy them during those 8 hours

most dogs sleep the majority of the day so there’s a good chance the dog is spending that time sleeping but maybe mention something about a pets hotel or doggie day camp so the dog can play with other dogs

same! even when I’m home they both just want to sleep, I have to wake them up to go outside 😭
