slamming the door when you leave in the morning when you know that your roommate was up late studying is not cool. inviting your partner over without telling your roommate isn’t cool. not cleaning up after yourself is not cool. don’t be like this be kind.

Nah slamming the door when I leave in the morning is valid if they were disruptive to your sleep

Unless you share a room with your roommate there no reason they should have to get your permission to invite over their partner

If you disrupted there sleep then I understand, slamming doors but having to let you know if there bring there partner over is crazy especially because you said it wasn’t a dorm

I agree with that however giving your roommate a heads up is nice, just so they don’t walk in on something they shouldn’t have especially when the whole situation could have been avoided

I don’t see how studying is disruptive. And there’s no need to be petty and slam doors

you can leave without slamming the door??

im saying it bc sometimes ppl interpret a door being slammed when it really isn't, at least my door is pretty loud when being closed. again, if roommate wakes up at that time normally they don't owe the other person quietness + if they study at night when the other person is sleeping

Depends on the situation ig. Obv ppl can study quietly, but if they’re yelling/on the phone if you share a room/being loud all night I wouldn’t feel particularly bad about being petty

If your first response it to be petty rather than simply talk to them about it, I wouldn’t care that you’re bothered

If you mean the common area that stuff shouldn’t be happening there anyway. But if it’s in their room you should always be knocking first regardless of if they have someone over or not. I would be pissed if my roommates just randomly walked into my room. I might have just come out of the shower or be in my pajamas and I want my privacy when my door is closed.

Idk why you’re assuming what the situation is? I would talk to them first and if they don’t listen then I’d be petty

So you’re not sharing a room but complaining about things that would only bother you if you were sharing a room? I don’t pay 750 to ask the rest of my roommates if I can have someone over. And if the door accidentally slams (especially when it’s windy) then oh fuckin well. I’m sure people don’t mean to. The only thing I can’t get passed is being dirty

it’s the roommates apartment too they’re allowed to invite their partner over whenever? both parties pay rent, both parties live there

yea i didnt know they had their own rooms lol, op shouldn't be that bothered unless that roommate is genuinely loud. there's not enough context 😓

its just common courtesy, if i have a guest i just send a quick text of hey, my partner/friend is coming over! its just letting everyone be on the same page

Thats good for you and your roommate, everyone is different on how they communicate, personally im not going to frequent text my roommate but instead at the beginning of the year we communicate on how we would like things
