my rm has consistently ate all the food i bought (last sem she dug through my closet and ate my snacks then hid the box again), and everytime her parents drop her off they complain the fridge is empty every time because i’ve stopped buying food

one of my old rms was like this and when his parents complained about me not helping him i was like "i support myself. i cannot support another adult for free..." and that led to me getting $150/mo to buy about $80 worth of supplies (i told them i was pocketing whatever was left and they agreed). idk if they're that chill but idk... might be worth a shot if you're down for a side gig 😂 basically one extra store trip a month for like $70 in profit

Are they complaining in a way that’s aimed at your roommate or you?

me! it’s always some snide remark because for some reason i’m expected to contribute to that part of her living when we eat entirely differently and enjoy different meals. my roommate also does not have a car and i do and it has been explicitly stated by both that they expect me to give out rids

God the entitlement. Unless they start paying you to do those things for her just can just sit and rotate.

exactly!! like part of me feels bad because she has no license or anything but she also never tries to offer gas money or try to find another alternative

Mommy and Daddy can pay for uber then. Yeah her parents set her on this path but she’s an adult now; time to learn how to be one.

Any chance you could store some food at your bf’s or another friend’s place? Not ideal but cheaper than always eating out, and as a friend, I would let ppl use my fridge space :)
