Just address it with her and let her know she needs to stop taking your stuff. She knows what she’s doing she’s not dumb. If it doesn’t stop after weeks technically speaking it could probably be considered an act of theft so you could be like listen man I don’t want to do this but you are stealing from me and I will call the authorities if you don’t stop

Why don’t you just hide your food somewhere in your room…?

some things need to be refrigerated and that’s the stuff she steals

yikes, you might be cooked. You could get like one of those tiny mini fridges and hide it somewhere under ur bed 😭 bc even if u tell her don’t do it anymore, that prob wont stop her. You could request for a new room, surely your RA will understand

But only get authorities involved if you actually have had the conversation with her many times and even after all that it’s not stopping. Because number one she’s already choosing to do this. Number two if you address it to her she still is choosing to do this. So then number three, if you break the law and steal there are proper consequences for those actions

Honestly a conversation would save you way more hassle. You’re going to have to take money to buy a fridge, buy a camera, set it all up, and track footage if anything comes up. A conversation would not only address this with your roommate (for free too) but also will show her you’re not going to take crap. This concept and dynamic of her taking your stuff is not only going to be solely with food. Will she take other things, maybe maybe not, but will she see you as someone…

Who she can take advantage of? Probably absolutely yes. And simply avoiding it and buying a fridge gives her full permission to continue doing it because she is seeing “oh my roommate won’t call me out on my crap. I should keep doing it.” Ik it is scary to address, but we teach people how to treat us. Addressing it head on is scary yes, but it commands respect

you can also get a lock box for the fridge! I'm sorry she's stealing stuff, if you live on campus you should report her to your RA
