I think my friend is trying to get me to be the “fatter” one again. I was 170lbs and she was pretty skinny. I went to college and came back, I was down 20lbs and she gained SIGNIFICANTLY (but makes it a point that she “isn’t 170”). She makes comments…

It’s giving hidden resentment. My friend lost ~15 lbs and I didn’t even bring it up because I was afraid it’d offend her. She was like “you didn’t notice I lost weight?” And then I started to hype her up and encourage her, cause it was safe

Girl I’m sorry that really fucking sucks and as someone who has also worked hard to lose weight and I can’t imagine how hard it is to have her put you down and make you feel like that. Even if she isn’t blatantly shaming you what she is doing is not ok and you deserve way better. I think it’s amazing you did that and are still able to stay healthy with how she’s treating you.

…that I was “prettier before” and keeps wanting us to eat at fattening places and pushes for me to eat more than I want to (as in eat her food too after I finished mine). She tries to keep me from working out (literally 30-40 minutes on an elliptical and walking my dog, sometimes swimming) and is annoyed that in public I get more attention than her and even tries to swoop in and claim these guys are hitting on her when I’m talking to them…she literally has a bf tho??

I think she misses me being the “fatter” friend and it sucks bc I feel I’m treated worse now…

Also stings that she wasn’t one bit happy for me, rather compares her weight to my max weight…I’ve struggled with weight my whole life and it took a lot to lose that 20lbs…

The craziest thing is that in her not so hidden attempts to make me gain weight. She herself has gained more weight and is now at a heavier weight than my max but she still claims that she looks better like dude I don’t care about that. Why are you doing this? I’ve had a problems with eating and I’m just gonna have to cut her off at this point.

Girl she hates your ass. You make her feel insecure. Which is not your problem, at all!! You don’t project your insecurities onto others, especially not your damn friends. I’d definitely distance myself or just find a new friend

I know bae, and it’s not your fault. You deserve a friend who celebrates with you. Friends always grow apart, esp if you knew each other since kids. People change and sometimes you outgrow the relationship
