My roomate has alcohol in the shared, school owned fridge and I don’t know how to tell her to get it out. Like the school can look through their own belongings and it’s shared like they won’t believe me when I say it’s not mine

Tell them to move it to a hiding place in their own stuff or you’re snitching to the RA. Like no I’m not taking the fall for your dumbass decision.

ur school CANNOT open ur fridge because it's violating. it doesn't matter what school, they can't do that. they can't look through anything that is closed they can't go through ur closet at all.

There are some cases where they can open the fridge, mainly safety reasons. My school was in the path of Helene and right before they opened back up maintenance went through every dorm checking for mold and flooding. Fridges were opened because of this and several people got busted for having beer.

thats valid for them but there also needs to be a notice sent out about it beforehand. thats understandable but its a violation for them to be doing it if you own the fridge. if it's owned by the school i guess i get it but otherwise they shouldn't 😭 they can get a lawsuit from it if there was no proper reasoning

Given the fridge is school property in this case they might need less of a reason. Also if the school is given a report saying a student is storing something they’re not supposed to have in a certain place most housing contracts have it built in that they can check school owned items without notice

Yeah and it’s so easy for them to get the proper reasoning. A school owned fridge isn’t the safest place to store alcohol, she can use a storage ottoman like a smart college student. Schools can’t search personal items
