is it jus me or is this a bit excessive / unnecessary ? I dry one load of laundry every 1-2 weeks, with all the towels it needs 90 min to dry. I hang dry a good amount of things too. like i’ll try to do less but also I feel like this was unnecessary? idk

According to Google running the dryer adds between 25 cents to a buck fifty to the bill (depending on how long it runs). Guaranteed the roommate has about five things they can do themselves to “help with the electric bill” that cost more than that but chooses to make it OP’s problem instead.

So do they just run the dryer multiple rounds or do they just have musty clothes? If yall that stressed about the bill there’s much better ways to reduce them, it’s like 0.30-1.20 in power to run the dryer per load (assuming it’s an hour). So they’re pressed about an extra 0.15-0.60????? If that’s how long the clothes take to dry that’s how long they take to dry idk what they really want

This sounds ridiculous. Dry your laundry however long you want baby

Nah that’s doing to much your stuff has to dry and if it takes 90 minutes then it takes 90 mins

I’m pretty sure main thing that contributes to a bill is the ac/heating unit. And seeing as how they are there more than you tell them to figure it out.

Exactly what I’m saying! The ones nickel and diming dryer run times are also probably the ones who keep the ac at 60° all summer and 85° all winter and bite your head off if you even think about making it more manageable

Wait I just realized they said “90 minutes (about 1.5 hours)”. 90 minutes IS 1.5 hours that’s not an approximation

One load every two weeks sounds like too much weight and I’m with your housemates here because there’s no fucking way it takes that long to dry ANYTHING and you sound lazy asf with one load in two weeks. I do towels separate like a normal person

Every two weeks is 4 towels, maybe 3 pairs of jeans, and a handful of shirts, and underwear. That’s a perfectly reasonable load. Unless you’re changing outfits 6 times a day for two weeks and sweating through tshirts every 2 hours, for a single person every two weeks is fairly reasonable. Esp since she’s hang drying a lot. A full load of towels takes 2+ hours in my dryer. 1.5 for some towels and the rest of her clothes is fine

What 2 said and that doesn’t change the fact that running the dryer doesn’t even add $2 to the bill but the roommate would rather make it OP’s problem to lower the bill than doing anything themselves like change the thermostat settings to something a little more economical.

I workout every day so everyday I need one pair of underwear sometimes two. I can’t comprehend how it wouldn’t pile up unless you’re sedentary or only have thongs
