Start slow and work on distance, not speed. Try a mile. Depending on how you do you can adjust for your next run. As long as you have some sort of consistent schedule (~3-4 runs a week) you’ll improve!

Just run n see how far u can go. Walk if u have to. When u catch breath, run again. Basically doing splits.
Or join a run club

Build up mileage overtime and don’t push yourself past what you can handle. Once you get a feel of your body and level you can add mileage and speed. This way you avoid injury.

I don’t think you need prep much for a 5K. Just enjoy and keep going. My first race was 10K. It was hard but it was so fun.
