I was able to get mine cause I had severe endometriosis and adenomyosis, but even with those conditions it took me 3 years to finally be able to get one at 22. My best advice is to be persistent and consistent with your obgyn about what you want. If you only want it for sterilization purposes a bilateral salpingectomy will do the trick, and you may be able to get that in the meantime

They generally only let someone have one if the current issues you have with having a uterus are expected to be worse than the side effects of a hysterectomy. Hysterectomies produce postoperative adhesions at a greater rate than other surgeries. My grandma got a hysterectomy and her adhesions have been surgically removed multiple times since. Them to be felt by a doctors hand or seen on a scan and then after that even harder for them to be effectively massaged out.

The chance for adhesions to cause severe pelvic pain or wrap around your bowels is high enough to cause hysterectomies to only really be considered as a last resort when around 20 years ago it was much easier to get one

For me, I had so many problems related to my uterus (including some of my organs being stuck together) the daily pain I was in, and the side effects of my birth control, that contributed to me being a candidate for a hysterectomy

I’m free of the disease that was destroying my body? I had endometriosis and adenomyosis and had several organs that were stuck together. My primary reason for doing this was for my quality of life, not so I could “be a slut” I’m asexual anyways

I actually got some images from my surgery of my internal organs and there was so much scar tissue from my endometriosis that it looked like someone had poured hot glue onto my bladder and other organs

Hey #4! Idk your situation or why you may want to, but make sure to do the research b4 getting it done. I’ve heard of it coming w complication such as bladder prolapse & depending on if you get your ovaries removed, your hormone will be thrown off balance bcuz of menopause. It’s your body & I’m not trying to stop you or anything but make sure you research the risks of how it can affect your health afterwards. Other treatment might become pertinent & that can be costly

While this is definitely my first and last hysterectomy, it is my second, but likely not last endometriosis surgery, though I’m hopeful that I won’t need surgical intervention again

That’s one of the reasons I recommended a bilateral salpingectomy or tubal ligation if you just want it for birth control reasons, I had my uterus, tubes, and one ovary removed due to that being what was best for me and my body, but the best advice I can give is to speak to an obgyn about what you want and what to expect

I’m already on both testosterone and estrogen due to being a trans guy, so the hormonal stuff wasn’t as much of a concern for me, but everyone’s body and situations are different
