I thought it was a clownfish then went no lion fish then went no rock fish then went wait a second… it’s not a fish it’s make believe!!’

I want to guess it’s environment—I’m thinking coral reefs / colorful anemones that it can blend in with the orange stripes and maybe white sand surrounding. For the extra fins (and spikes), I’ll guess fast currents and large nearby predators. I could also see it burying itself sideways

Good guesses! I made this fish to pair with a few species of red-colored branching corals, whose polyps make up the vast majority of its diet. The stripes are a form of disruptive coloration that disrupts the silhouette of the fish to predators within the coral branches.
