Update #3: have return started for the first pencil, going to return the second pencil tomorrow and ordered a third that’ll come in tomorrow! I pray this is the final update.
Update #2: I’m the silly one! So apparently, despite what the Apple Store employees said, the pencil is in fact not compatible with my current iPad… so yeah… gonna return it and get a gen two pencil (send help)

At that point I’d bring the iPad to the store, open the package once you bought it, check it with the employee standing next to you, and if it doesn’t work, return it that second 😂
