You did really well with the textures of her fur, and I love how you brought out the subtle colors in the white! Did you have any artists you were referring to for that texture work?

I wish I had a cool/helpful answer for that, but honestly I just looked really hard at my picture of her and tried to see the colors/imagine how they’d reflect with that bright background. My tip is to build up values by starting with a base color that’s complimentary/makes sense (in my case, a light blue) and then start making shapes. I brushed a wash coat of white over the yellows/blues/purples and then did highlights in the brightest colors for texture

I appreciate that so much. She’s going up to the stars today but she’s been loved and known for every one of her 15 years. I’m glad I could paint her in remembrance ❤️‍🩹

Same with the black fur. Except I worked more backwards there because I didn’t want to make it too dark. So I started with a medium-toned purple and built up shadows
