I personally work with acrylic bc I am impatient and hate waiting for oils to dry lol but some things to consider when choosing a medium are drying time and workability. With acrylic, it dries really fast and I find I have to work really quickly to achieve a smooth blend. Oils stay wet for an eternity and you can achieve really great blending. I think acrylics are a little easier to work with for beginning artists, but it all is up to personal preference :)
