I wish I could say on Twitter that I prefer shaving my coochie without a bunch of women telling me I’m anti-feminist and setting the movement back Nuh uh, YOURE setting the movement back by literally controlling what other girls do with their bodies!!!!!

And for the record I’m not saying that shaving or not shaving is better in any way. Everyone should be able to do what they want with their body!!!!!

it’s so person to person dependent. me? havent shaved my legs in over 3 years and prefer my cooch with some fuzz. i had a phase where i used to shave non stop and understood the appeal back then too. it’s literally based in nothing but preference. #DOWHATYOUWANT

well its not anti feminist or setting the movement back or anything but the act of shaving isn’t feminist. they’re wrong for getting in your face about it when you aren’t claiming you’re the ultimate feminist by shaving, tell them to kiss yo ass 😭

Tbh if someone’s gonna advocate for pro-hair id much rather them tell abt how it’s healthier to not shave instead of immediately jumping to its “anti-feminist” to shave 😭

I just really hate how if I say a personal preference for my body, people assume the worst in me. I’d have to put an obligatory “not saying x is bad, it’s just what I like to do with MY body”

I hate the “feminists” who go online and preach about how bushes are natural and therefore better than bare skin, talking about people who like to shave like us doing that means everyone else has to… and also the people who take it even further and shame people who don’t have the “correct” type of pubic hair

Feminism allows women to make whatever choices they want to make. Not every choice is a feminist one, but everyone should be able to live how they want. Also, no one person can “set feminism back” or even move it forward. All of us make choices that adhere to patriarchal norms (I wear makeup, want a good body, etc) but I’m aware of it. Do whatever you want because it’s YOUR life, but don’t forget.

I know literally disgusting it shouldn’t be on us to control how men perceive us, shaving should NOT be sexualized and neither should letting it grow out be perceived as gross!!

Like I didn’t know until recently but apparently a lot of women look down on people with straight pubes? Saying curly is the right kind of bush and anything else is gross? Gave me a whole new insecurity, can’t win if I shave and can’t win if I don’t

Personally, I know you didn’t ask me, but personally, it’s just sensory overload to be super hairy down there, so yes I’d shave my 🐱 regularly and I’d shave my legs and pits occasionally because too much hair is sensory overload for me

This is completely different though. This leaves out a lot of factors. Like the depression I’d feel from the end of the world and constant helplessness. I probably wouldn’t shave, but not because of the lack of men.

yeah i dont think its the presence of men that make women do it, it think its the internal wanting to adhere to that social standard, combined with the discomfort everyone gets when its first growing back in, and maybe the habit of it all. im just hesitant to believe the sensory argument because men dont seem to have that sensory issue as much, and i have diagnosed sensory issues (most of which involving skin/ texture) but i dont mind cause im used to it

I actually shave my legs for sensory reasons. I am autistic. I can’t explain the men doing it less, maybe they force themselves to get over it due to society pressure. All I know is everyone’s sensory issues are different, and if I don’t shave my legs I feel like ants are crawling all over me.

Sometimes, it wasn’t as bad as when i became an adult. My mom didn’t let me shave until i reached a certain age so one way or another i had to tune it out anyway. But it did become much worse after certain illnesses I had.

I wanna be smooth down there so bad, but it feels so uncomfy when it starts growing back all stubbly and scratchy and then I regret shaving it (but it does looks good I fear)

noones saying its anti feminist. ppl are saying your reasonings for wanting to shave, and rooted in patriarchy. women didnt shave their legs or any part of their body til world war either 1 or 2, when theGillete razor company lost sales cause the men went to war, and women didnt shave, so they ran this hate campaign against women to convince them to shave. they started by saying it was a new trend in europe (it wasnt)

they used predatory language, and convinced women to start shaving more and more of their bodies. it worked amazing for Gillette, but now people think its gross not to (like the ads used to tell us) and that its natural for women to be hairless. i mean shit, whens the last time you saw body hair on a woman in a razor ad or even a “realistic” apocalypse movie were at the point where people find it so disgusting to see hair on women that they lose the authenticity of their shows/movies

im an advertising major and they taught us about this kind of ad, they use specific language to make the viewer think “wait i should be embarrassed by this? let me buy this product so i don’t have to be” i still shave but eventually we need to change the culture around this we should be able to see body hair on women in shows/movies/ads without it being gross and we shouldnt have to shave our whole bodies for the rest of our lives and for every women that comes after us

You say that no one’s saying it’s anti feminist but there are people saying it’s anti feminist, I have friends who have said that. Is that the stance of feminist scholars? No, but it is the stance of some regular women And there was an advertising telling women our underarm hair was offensive back in 1908, and was extended to leg hair in the 1920, it wasn’t about razors but the propaganda started well before WWII, with some negative associations with female body hair going back to the 1870s
