Why does the writing and dialogue in modern Star Wars with the exception of some of clone wars and andor feel like it’s targeted towards 9 year olds. Like it’s genuinely so sloppy to the point of it feeling insulting.

Dialogue has never been Star Wars’ strong suit. Even George Lucas will admit that. That being said, Star Wars is generally for kids because the Star Wars franchise survives off of toy sells. Thus the writing adapts itself to what is considered appropriate for children to watch given the time and era.

I hate to say this but it's been targeted towards 9 year olds from day 1

It was meant to appeal to a broad age group so that everyone could enjoy it and it wasn’t as dumbed down as it’s been recently

What’s your point? Yoda acts that way to test Luke’s patience to see if he’s ready for training

Is that also why luke says he wants to be a jedi "because of my father, i guess"?

He didn’t know much about Jedi or the force at that point but he thought his dad was a Jedi. His early motivations were wanting to do something more than being a farmer and he was curious about who his father was from the start of the trilogy. Also yoda says he’s not ready at first so again what’s your point

For example, when the prequels were released, adults hated Jar Jar Binks because they considered him annoying, while a wide audiences of kids loved Jar Jar Binks because he was funny and his humor connected with children better. In the old Star Wars Legends books, Luke Skywalker’s favorite drink was hot chocolate and it was a running gag, because that made him relatable towards kids because kids generally love hot chocolate, and the list goes on. It is all linked to marketing and toy sells.
