I love that Vecna had a much more serious version of the scene where O’Hare from the Lorax has a “change of heart” and then being like “nah, fuck that”

I agree except it is not accurate at all to what they wrote for his character in the stage play. His whole thing was that he WAS fighting the mind flayer 😭 like why canonize the play to then not... stick with it?

Yeah. I haven’t seen it, but IMO the only explanation for that is that he was flayed(?) to the point where he *thought* he was choosing the darkness, but he really was, ig, no longer “in the driver’s seat”?

That's my logic too, which I think then sends a really sad message of victims can never escape, they will always be controlled somehow until they die or until they become like their abuser. like are we kidding why are we ignoring the 2 and a half hour play the DUFFERS WROTE in order to give us sympathy for Henry???

I'm a theatre major and tbh I'm just really angry at how they handled the play, they should never have made it canon if they were going to shoot down what I interpreted as the main plotline of the play
